12 WAYS THE WORLD COULD END IN 2012

On Dec. 21, 2012 according to the Mayan calender will reach the of a 394 year cycle called a b’ak’tun which has nothing to do with the end of the world but has sent end of time aficionados into a frenzy. Archaeologists laugh off that doomsday scenario, explaining that the Mayan calendar cycle is no more momentous than our own calendar ticking over from 1999 to 2000. But for those of you who obsess over this, here are 12 way’s that the earth could perish in a blink of an eye, or in some cases a little longer.

1 – Asteroid Impact, extinction level impacts occur about every 100 million years and would have to be at least a mile across in size. According to NASA, not to worry.

2 – Pandemic – If this happens it would in all probability come from custom tailored pathogens that we have made. The human race extinguished by the human race, oh well.

3 – The Machines take over  – Computer chips get twice as powerful every two years according to Moore’s law so in theory chips at some point will eclipse the human brain. So if they get out of hand, remove the power source and put them in the corner for a while till they learn how to behave.

4 – Gamma-Ray Burst – Large stars die, collapse, give off powerful beams of energy, charged particles would kill everything on  one side of our planet then the gamma rays would ionize the atmosphere and cause years of acid rain. This happens about every 10 million years, danger zone would be a small percentage of a galaxy,  so not to worry.

5 – Snowball Earth – Nuclear war or a supervolcano could put enough sun blocking dust in the air to block the sun, no sun, no heat, we get cold, get cold enough the earth turns into a snowball.

6 – Ocean Acidification – Carbon dioxide levels go up, the oceans absorb it and they become acidic to the point that it could trigger a wave of extinction. This could happen.

7 – Solar Storm – These storms launch waves of charged particles through the solar system that can induce strong currents on the ground. This could be quite catastrophic as it could destroy our electrical network which could wreck our economy and life as we know it.

8 – Supervolcano – if one of these blow it could send up 2400 times more debris than Mount St. Helen’s did, this would be a real bummer. Massive eruptions like this happen about once every 640,000 years, last one happened 600,000 years ago so we should be good for 2012.

9 – Geomagnetic Reversal – Has happened, takes a long time from start to finish and no one really knows how it would affect us. Not to worry.

10 – Nuclear War – This one just depends on if the right idiot gets his hands on enough nukes and pushes the button, find him first and take him out of the equation and we should be good.

11 – Artificial Black Hole – In other words a black hole that we created and it got so big it swallowed the earth. Won’t happen according to all the mainstream physicists in the world.

12 – The X Factor – Any thing that we don’t know for real that may cause the end of the world as we know it. Here you can make up any kind of scenario you want and worry about it all day, this is a total waste of time.

OK, so if none of these scenarios happen, you will still need to print, right? You  can do your part in helping to save the planet by using our eco-friendly remanufactured ink & toner cartridges! Check us out.
